Only teach what youโ€™ve been taught on your teacher training course. This also means your own practice. The more you know youโ€™re subject the easier it is to come up with the cues.

Your mat is not glued to the floor. Get everyoneโ€™s eyes on you if youโ€™re going to demonstrate something. If you canโ€™t see their faces, guess what they probably canโ€™t see you so MOVE YOUR MAT. If you do need to demonstrate then move your mat
to the newest/slowest person.

Walk around the class. You canโ€™t see everything if you stay in one spot and this also goes for your private client. Walk around the front, back, and sides so you can see what their body is doing and the imbalances they may have.
Find the person that is the slowest or newest or that needs the most help. If you cater to them, itโ€™s easier to build onto those exercises for the others, but this will ensure that everyone in your class is looked after and the weakest link wonโ€™t leave feeling neglected or worse about themselves.
You donโ€™t need to demonstrate everything. Even if you have complete beginners you shouldnโ€™t need to demonstrate everything. This will serve you well should you ever injure yourself or fall ill and you canโ€™t demonstrate something. OR even if thereโ€™s an exercise that you canโ€™t do – you still need to know HOW to teach it.
Recording your own practice is a great way to check your own technique. Sometimes we think weโ€™re doing something correct and itโ€™s not until we watch the video that we see some areas that need improvement. Remember if you demonstrate your clients will more likely do exactly what you DO, even if youโ€™re cueing something else. So you want to make sure your technique is spot on โ€“ or donโ€™t demonstrate (refer back to no. 5).
Especially as preparation for your assessment. This is a great tool to hear what youโ€™re cueing sounds like. Are your instructions clear and direct? Or is there too much woffle and fluff? You donโ€™t need to talk to the whole class. Silence is okay.
Donโ€™t expect every person in your class to do the same thing. If someone is struggling or canโ€™t do something, then give them something else to do. Donโ€™t expect them to just sit and wait for the next exercise.
Have eye contact with people. Donโ€™t keep looking down at your lesson plan or the wall while you race ahead with your class. Look at people. SEE them. See their bodies. Be in that space with them throughout your whole class.
๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ.
Your clients will know when youโ€™re not passionate and your business will suffer. All
teacher goes through phases so if you find youโ€™re in a slump take a break. Go on a
holiday, have a month off, and pay another teacher to cover. Remember why you started teaching and the impact you have on other peopleโ€™s lives is so much more than the 60 minutes you spend in a class with them.

You will not believe how using peopleโ€™s names makes them feel. Especially brand-new clients! It will go a long way in helping you build your pilates business.
At some point during the class be near every single person in your class. It doesnโ€™t
matter if youโ€™re not teaching directly to them, but spend some time in the vicinity of
them. Maybe they do need some correction or maybe theyโ€™re doing really well and you can complement them.
Nothing is more irritating than hearing โ€œlovelyโ€ or โ€œgood jobโ€ every two minutes and people will not actually hear you giving a compliment when you do genuinely mean it. Also, if you use compliments as fillers (words to fill silent gaps) then someone who may be just about breaking their neck thinks theyโ€™re doing a great job when in fact theyโ€™re not. Best advice – offer genuine compliments. Your clients will appreciate it much more!
