Oh how our mind likes to play tricks with us and offer unsolicited advice! 🤯

You have this thought about becoming a Pilates or Yoga teacher, but then…..

You get these thoughts

❌  I’m too old

❌  I’m too young

❌ I’m too overweight

❌  I can’t do all the exercises

❌  I don’t have enough time

❌  I don’t have enough money

❌  I’m not flexible enough

❌  I don’t have enough experience

And I’m sure we could probably think of about 100 more things to add to the list……🙈

If you’ve followed me for a while you know I love the analogy of Usain Bolt. 🏃‍♀️

The fastest man on earth.

Well if we were to believe in what we were thinking…

He would actually be the second fastest man on earth and his COACH would be the first.

Get what I’m saying ❓

Do you even know what his coach’s name is?  I don’t!

BUT do you think he did a pretty good job at training Usain?  HELL YEAH!

So when it comes to deciding whether or not you want to do your teacher training based on your flexibility (or lack thereof),

The secret to being able to have full classes and really help people will come down to your training and your marketing, not your bendiness, your date of birth or the number on the scale.

During our Level 3 Pilates & Yoga Practitioner courses we take you through a variety of teaching skills training where you are purposely not allowed to demonstrate exercises so that you actually learn how to teach through verbal instruction.

What happens if you break a leg or have a cold and you can’t demonstrate.  A good teacher doesn’t stay on their mat throughout the class.  They teach by watching and facilitating.

Not being able to do some of the exercises or not being able to touch your toes often crops up when I speak to people about doing their Pilates or Yoga Teacher Training and what I always say is this:

Thanks to medical science, people are living longer.

A LOT LONGER.

Just because people age it doesn’t mean they want to stop moving, but they also don’t want to harm their bodies and they know they can’t do the things they used to do.

There’s not much in the way of pilates or yoga classes for over 70’s (as an example).  There isn’t much offered in homes for patients to do some movement and stay as strong as they possibly can.

The secret is this:

People like teachers who they resonate with.

So it really doesn’t matter whether or not you can touch your toes, stand on your head or if you’re 70 years old.

💜 We like our teachers to be like us.

💜 We like our teachers with all their flaws (especially if we have the same flaws!).

💜 We like our teachers to understand what we’re going through.

THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE JUST LIKE YOU, who would LOVE to come to your class, because they know YOU GET THEM.  You UNDERSTAND how they feel and if “you can do it” that also means “they can do it”.

On our Level 3 Pilates & Yoga Practitioner Courses, we teach you how to create classes that will help the youngest and the oldest to get the most out of their class!  (in my picture – the youngest person was a 35 year old lady and the oldest was a 75 year old man!)

So…..don’t let your age, your size, your lack of flexibility or _____________ (fill in the blank) put you off becoming a Pilates or Yoga teacher!

There are so many people out there waiting for someone like you to take the leap of faith!

Lots of love
