Never too old to try something new!

Recently we had a lady called Arlene join us for her Pilates teacher training and what inspires me the most about Arlene is her “I’ll try anything attitude”.  🤸‍♀️

Arlene was a paramedic 🚑  for many years and then went to live in Turkey and then woke up one day and decided to buy a hotel in Brixham, even though her and her husband had no hotel experience!

Now they’re selling the hotel, after successfully running it for a few years, and she has just completed her Pilates teacher training, at the beautiful age of 64!

They are planning on moving back to Turkey, once the hotel is sold and this is where she’s going to use her qualification!

I won’t lie, Arlene did have apprehensions about doing the course, having to study again and we had a conversation before she decided to take that leap and do it.

Even just before her first weekend she had her doubts, thinking that everyone else on the course would be “fitter, younger, better……….” and yes they were younger, and maybe they were a little fitter but guess what…..

By the end of the first weekend Arlene realised that she could do this and there was no judgment from anyone about age, ability or whatever else!

In fact, Arlene was such an inspiration and motivation for everyone else.  Arlene was always there with a smile on her face and helping everyone else to feel relaxed and at ease.  😍

When we do our teacher training courses we are all there to learn (including us!) and rather than thinking of competing against each other, the learners are there to support each other and how fit you are, old you are, skinny you are, overweight you are….

IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER….

You’re all real people – not instagram models and guess what….

So are the people you’ll be teaching and they don’t want instagram poses as a teacher!

Arlene, by the way, is not the oldest person we’ve had on a course before!    Our oldest to date is 68 years old!   My mum is 87 and has only recently given up teaching line dancing so you’re not too old to start now!

I’m really excited about Arlene’s goals for her classes as she wants to help the elderly with movement – and as humans are living for longer, there’s a huge need for teachers who can help the elderly to keep their mobility (and balance!) for longer!

If you feel inspired by Arlene and you’re more mature and you really want to do your teacher training then know that you can do this too!

Send me a private message or email me info@elitepilatesteachertraining.co.uk if there’s a little part of you thinking about becoming a teacher and we’ll go through all your concerns and questions and then you’ll know whether or not this is something you want to do!

I look forward to receiving your email!

Lots of love
